Principal's Greeting - John Paul II Academy

Welcome to John Paul II Academy

It is a true honor to serve as Principal of John Paul II Academy of Louisville and to be part of a community so deeply rooted in faith, character, and service. With more than 32 years in public education, I have been blessed to serve students and families in many roles, including high school social studies teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and principal—each experience shaping my belief that schools thrive when relationships, high expectations, and care for the whole child are at the center.

I spent seven years as principal of Olmsted North Middle School, where I was humbled to be recognized as Middle School Principal of the Year in my very first year, and eleven years as principal of Wilder Elementary, where I was honored as Elementary Principal of the Year in 2024. Throughout my career, I have been known for building strong school cultures, supporting educators, leading with integrity, and always putting students first.

After briefly retiring from the principalship, I felt a clear call to return to school leadership in a new way—to promote Catholic education, serve the broader community, and help form young people not only academically, but spiritually as well. John Paul II Academy’s mission, its commitment to the Titan Pledge, and its strong, family-like community made that calling unmistakable.

I am continually impressed by the outstanding students of character, the dedicated and faith-filled staff, and the partnership with families that defines John Paul II Academy. This is a school where Christ is truly at the center, where students are challenged to grow, serve, and lead, and where every child is known and valued.

On a personal note, I am a proud husband to my wife, Tracy, and a grateful father to our three daughters—Carley, Libby, and Laney. Family has always grounded my work in education, and it is a joy to lead a school that places such high value on faith, family, and community.

I look forward to continuing the great work already underway at John Paul II Academy and to serving our students, families, and parish community as we move forward together—forming Titans who live their faith, pursue excellence, and serve others with compassion.

Warm Regards,

Bill Perkins
